One of the most famous Banat destinations, Herculane Baths Resort, stood out worldwide for its thermal waters that date back to the period of the Roman occupation.  The waters are famous for the high concentration of hydrogen sulphide, chlorine, calcium and other beneficial elements.  In 2011, the place was declared a spa resort. Saint Elena is the oldest Czech village still inhabited by the Czech minority in Banat and belongs to Coronini commune. The town is located in the south of Caraş-Severin county, near the Danube and the Iron Gates. Sfânta Elena was the second Czech village established in Banat, in 1824, during which time the first wave of colonization with Czechs from Bohemia took place, for the development of wood exploitations in the area of ​​the Danube Gorge. Here, the Czechs built a Catholic church in 1879 and an Evangelical one in 1887, the Evangelical one being then taken over by the Baptist community.
