Water Mills from Gârnic

There are 10 water mills with cogs and buttons from Sischevița and they are located in the Danube Gorge. They are an impressive 100+ years old and are still functional, being considered the very forerunners of the Kaplan turbines. Photo source: Google Maps - Agency 360 Romania

22 water mills can be visited at Eftimie Murgu, Rudăria, still in working condition, although they are more than 150 years old, being built by the locals to process their grains. They work by means of hydraulic energy, obtained from the water flowing through the river Rudăria. Visitors can see how these mills work, learn more about their history from the locals and admire the beauty of Eftimie Murgu commune and its picturesque surroundings.

The tourist route on which we find Moara lui Untan starts from where Nera makes a 90 turn and goes towards Lacul Dracului. Currently, the mill is no longer functional, but the mechanisms used can be easily admired and studied. photo source: Google maps - Agency 360 Romania
