Bison Reservation - Armeniș
Leisure activity
About
Armeniș commune is the new host of bison (Bison bonasus) specimens from several European countries.
The aim of the bison reserve is to successfully reintroduce the bison to its natural habitat and conserve it effectively. This will help maintain ecological corridors on a large scale, allowing natural processes and rewilding to take place.
In 2015, the population of bison in the Armeniş reservation reached 30 specimens and then another 14 bison were brought to the Țarcu Mountains in June. The animals go through a process of gradual adaptation until they are released into the wild. Previously, in 2014, 17 bison, coming from breeding centers and zoos all over Europe, were relocated to the Țarcu Mountains.
