About

The Brebu Monastery is located on the main road that makes the connection between Caransebes and Resita, between the communities of Brebu and Soceni. It is placed on a small plateau of a special beauty.

In 1997, at the initiative of the mayor of Brebu, Mr. Ioan Pacurariu and with the help of Toma Itariu’s family who donated the land (2 hectares) in a place called "Valea Popii” (The Valley of the Priest), the foundation of a monastic settlement was established. The building of the hermitage was done step by step starting with a modest wood building. The other buildings were gradually built.
