About

The wooden church from Calina is located in Dognecea commune in Caras-Severin county and is a historical monument. It was originally built in Ciudanovița, and from there it was taken to Greoni to reach Calina in 1780.

The constructive system used to build the church is also found in other churches in Banat, being known as "Fachwerk" (the timber frame system or in popular parlance, the "puppy" system). This system was invented with the aim of saving wood, the places of worship built after it having the outer walls covered with plasters of earth mixed with chaff and chopped straw.
