Water Mills from Sischevița

22 water mills can be visited at Eftimie Murgu, Rudăria, still in working condition, although they are more than 150 years old, being built by the locals to process their grains. They work by means of hydraulic energy, obtained from the water flowing through the river Rudăria. Visitors can see how these mills work, learn more about their history from the locals and admire the beauty of Eftimie Murgu commune and its picturesque surroundings.

In the south of the Romanian Banat we find the village of Gârnic. It is populated entirely by Czechs and is home to priceless treasures, namely the over 100-year-old water mills. Today, locals still come to the mill to grind grain and then make bread, polenta, or feed the farm animals. The mills we meet here are: Vodenicka Morisca mill Unemecku Mill M. The tourist route on which we find Moara lui Untan starts from where Nera makes a 90 turn and goes towards Lacul Dracului. Currently, the mill is no longer functional, but the mechanisms used can be easily admired and studied. photo source: Google maps - Agency 360 Romania

The former Turkish Mill can be seen on the road leading to the Susara Waterfall.   Today, the mill is no longer functional, only the building with a moss-covered roof remains.   There is also a drinking spring and a Roman mine nearby. photo source: Google Maps - Agency 360 Romania
