A Corner of Heaven on top of the cliff - Ineleț Village

Lost amongst the clouds

Far from civilization, lost among the beauties of nature there is a special settlement in the world. To reach this isolated place, there are several access roads. The most spectacular way is on a wooden staircase that is more than 50 years old. The village of Ineleț on Valea Cernei is in the top of the most isolated places in our country, and it can be said with confidence that once you have arrived here, you will never want to leave it.

The village belongs to the Cornereva commune, from Caraş-Severin county and is a neighbor of Băile Herculane and Baia de Aramă.

How to get there

To get to this small village, you can drive from Băile Herculane to the village of Cerna and about 20 km from the resort you will see a small wooden shelter on the left. The vehicle can be left in this place and then follow a wooden bridge over the river after which a mountain path begins.

After some time of walking, a large glade meets your eye and in its continuity, large rocks rise to the heavens. A row of wooden stairs furrows the rock, these being the road leading to Ineleț. The staircase is about a hundred meters long and consists only of wooden steps that are stuck to the steep wall of the rock.

Around 25 people live in the settlement, forming 6 families. They have not forgotten the traditions of the ancestors from their grandparents and now they still raise animals and take care of crops. There is a small church in the village but also a modest school.
