King Michael's route - At the White Cross
It is one of the most famous, most visited and most picturesque viewpoints of the resort. Located on a rocky spur, at an altitude of 529 m, just above the historic center, the White Cross, about which several local legends tell, is the place from where the panorama of the Herculaneum Baths and the Cerna Mountains is truly overwhelming, fully rewarding the effort to reach here.
To the White Cross
The route to the Cross, open to tourists since the first half of the 19th century, is accompanied by several markings (yellow strip, red and blue triangle, blue cross). In 2018, the Administration of the Domogled National Park - Valea Cernei also set up a thematic route here.
On the path that goes up in serpentine thickets through the beech forest, nine informative panels have been placed regarding the sub-Mediterranean flora and vegetation specific to the Park, a tenth panel being placed right at the Cross, with clarifications on the panorama that opens up from here.
