Route Complex turistic Muntele Mic – Cuntu – Ţarcu – Șaua Iepii – Colonia Tomeasa

Difficulty: medium, long route.
From the tourist complex, go up the road in the broad belt (Văii Soarelui Plateau), then follow the path next to the electricity poles that descends directly to the meadows. You reach the asphalt and cross the road, and after passing the barn on the right of the road, you enter the forest, shortening the serpentines towards Jigorea Saddle.
Further on, it continues to the S on the rising ridge, entering the forest again. After a few hundred meters, you reach a climb to the top and the Șeroni clearing, an excellent viewpoint for the Țarcu-Bodea-Căleanu-Brusturu massif and the Olteana caldera. A topographic beacon is built in the clearing.
There is a descent following the forest road to the south. and then, after a flatter section, there is a last gentle climb, through the forest, on the forest road and later you reach the Cuntu cabin.
The route marked with a red tape goes up to the E next to the spring that feeds the cottage, and then on the grassy slope. With the ascent, the view opens to Muntele Mic. Follow the markings with the line of decoys climbing past a grohotiş and a few juniper trees and cypresses and continue towards the ridge on the path/road up to the western edge of the Oltena glacial caldera.
From Cuntu you climb steadily over Sadovanu mountain towards the weather station and Țarcu mountain (2190m). Following the ridge to the NE, we reach Plaiului Saddle.
From Saua Plaiului the path descends smoothly, crossing several streams. After crossing a rocky threshold, it descends gently through an alpine plateau towards Prislop Saddle, where you pass a small waterhole.
Cross the west-facing slope of the Scheiului on the level curve and reach the Scheiului Saddle.
From here it climbs towards Nedeia Peak and the Baicu massif and then descends to Saua Iepii.
From Şaua Iepii, the descent continues towards the Gura Apelor Dam on the Corciova Valley, and on the contour road of the lake you reach the dam.
