Route Traseu Poiana Mărului – Piatra Scorilei – Complexul turistic ,,Muntele Mic”
Marking: blue band;
Duration: 4-4 ½ hours;
Difficulty level: Low.
From the C.F.R. station Poiana Mărului, a marker indicates the direction to Muntele Mic. The path follows the valley for about 1 km, crosses a spring, then turns left and climbs through countless serpentines on the right slope of Scorila, crossing a forest that was thinned a few years ago.).
From here the path follows the summit to the southwest, through the forest, bypassing large blocks of rock and sloping slabs. For the most part, it accompanies the ridge on the right (western) slope, staying about 50 m below the crest. A few small but steep climbs, then a gentle slope takes us to a clearing of treetops, at the upper limit of the forest: Poiana Boboraţei (l 450 m). From here, the horizon opens wide to the north, east and southeast, offering wonderful views of the Tarcu Mountains. From here to the complex of cabins on Muntele Mic there are almost two hours to go.
The trail leads to the right of the rocks, then enters a grove of small spruces. From here the path goes on the north-eastern slope of Muntelui Mic, leaves the forest and climbs gently towards Cleanţul (Piatra) Scorilei (l 617 m), among juniper nests, fir saplings and rock blocks.
Then you reach the pasture of Muntele Mic, from where there is no longer a path. The blue markings on the stones lead to a marker post. From here it continues on the smooth and wide summit, always keeping the Scorilei Valley and the domed top of the Small Mountain on the right. On this foot of the mountain, several marker posts line up in a straight line that guide us to the source of several springs, whose waters flow to the east - the springs of Vâlsan. You will climb a foot on the ridge to the place where it separates from the massif, then you will follow the south-southwest direction, meeting the descent road near the tourist complex. Here we will find the marker indicating the way to the lodge (5 minutes to the west).
