Route Baile Herculane-Cheile Peciniscai-Cresta Cocosului
Distance: 7.4 km
Duration: 3 hours
Marking: Yellow cross
Difficulty level: Low.
From Vicol Park (area of Dacia, Afrodita hotels), take the main road, which leads to Herculane Station (Aleea Trandafirilor). After less than 1km, cross the Cerna River on the bridge and continue to the right on DN67D until Pecinișca. Immediately before the confluence with Valea Satului (V.Pecinișca), take the road on the left, unmarked, which winds through the orchards of the villagers. This road follows Valea Satului for over 1km to a former limestone quarry that ground part of the nearby gorges. It is about the Cheile Pecinișcai.
Although short (they are about 200m long and have a difference in level of almost 100m), the keys are very spectacular, impressing with their strange appearance and the total silence in the portion without water.
After crossing the gorges, the path continues in a sustained climb until it emerges on the plateau near the Peak of Creasta Cocoșului, at an altitude of 917m
