Route Baile Herculane-7 Izvoare calde- Piatra Baniței-Poiana Culmea Mare
Distance: 2.3 km
Duration: 1.5 hours
Marking: Yellow triangle
Difficulty level: Low.
You can reach 7 Izvoare Calde by taking the road that crosses the Băile Herculane resort, passes the Roman Hotel and intersects with DN 67 D. From this point you go to the thermal beach from where, going downstream to the confluence of the Cerna and Slatina rivers there is a marked path that goes up the edge of the right slope of the Slatina Valley. Next, the gentler climb is made through a mixed forest (goruni, pines), and the bare areas, without vegetation, offer us special views of the surrounding mountains.
Following the yellow triangle marking, you reach Piatra Băniţei. At this point there are the ruins of the observation tower of the Romanian border patrols from before the Union. Continuing the route through a young and dense forest, you reach the hills in the Culmea Mare clearing.
